The How-To Guide for Appointment Prep at Kinley Kay Beauty Studio

Your appointment has been scheduled, and you are (not-so) patiently waiting to come in and enjoy some relaxation and pampering! But, we also know that the question that is on many of your minds is — how do I make sure that I am ready to go for my appointment?

Well, sweet friend, we have all those deets written out here for you! Being ready and prepared for your appointment is a game changer for your experience, helping to alleviate stress beforehand and maintaining the skin, lash and brow goals that you dream of afterward.

Skin Treatment Need-to-Knows:

  1. Be sure to stop use of all retinols or acid based serums at least 24 hours prior to your appointment. These treatments can make your skin more sensitive and therefore more susceptible to an unsavory reaction. We want you to LOVE every minute of your service, and giving your skin a break from these will ensure that you experience the very best.
  2. Know that if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, some of our treatments are not right for you at this time — specifically our microneedling treatment. This is because you are not able to use the numbing cream prior to treatment, which could make the appointment quite uncomfortable for you. We do not want that!
  3. Feel free to come in with a full face of makeup or sweat from the morning gym session. Part of the service is a cleanse to prepare your skin for the rest of the service.
  4. While most of our treatments are great for anyone, if you are on Accutane or any other acne medications, you will not be able to receive advanced skin services at Kinley Kay.  Our job, first and foremost, is to keep you safe, so talk with us about options if you are currently on a prescribed regimen.

Microblading Need-to-Knows:

  1. Please stop all use of the following prior to your microblading appointment:
  • Blood thinners (food and medications – including allergy meds)
  • Caffeine
  • Filler and Botox in the area of tattoo – 4 weeks before AND after
  • Laser or peels within 4 weeks of procedure, before AND after.
  • Vitamin E and fish oils

2. You will also need to:

  • Confirm you can refrain from sweating, swimming and sauna for 7 days post procedure
  • Stop the use of acid based serums and retinol 7 days before procedure

3. And, you can absolutely cannot receive the procedure if:

  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Diabetic
  • Have a healing disorder or blood thinning disorder
  • On accutane or steroids
  • Scarring or pigmentation disorders
  • Autoimmune disorders
  • Undergoing chemo or radiation
  • Sun bather or use of tanning beds

Also, feel free to arrive with makeup on to show us your style. We want to see how you love your brows to look, and it is super easy for us to remove it for you!

Lash Service Need-to-Knows:

  1. First and foremost, make sure that you come in eye makeup free! When your lashes aren’t clean, the lash lift won’t lock like it should and the adhesive for your extensions will not stick. We want you to love how your lashes look from the moment you leave until we see you again, but this piece of the puzzle is a game changer for retention and lift!
  2. Remove contacts and wear your glasses, if possible.
  3. Avoid curling your lashes at least 24 hours prior to your appointment. We want your lashes to be in the absolute best health that they can be, so do your best to avoid the curler.
  4. Make sure you are prepared to avoid water (like showers, sweating, pools, etc) for 24 hours after appointment. Again, your lashes won’t stay lifted and the adhesive won’t stick if they get wet too early!
